Sometimes God can seem so distant.
When Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel ceiling, he famously conveyed God reaching down to man as he made Adam. However there is that gap where the two fingers never quite touch. God has not quite been encountered.
With all the different voices saying what God is like, which really conveys it correctly? Or when we try and consider what God must be like for ourselves, where do we begin? Especially if we don’t want to merely make up a God in our own image!
Besides which, does it really matter? Maybe there is no God. Or even if there is, does he really have anything to do with me?
During 2012, we’re going to be exploring some of these thoughts and questions, and more. As we hold events through the course of the year, we’ll seek to encounter God in music, art, sport and science, finally culminating in a seven week series of forums which encounter God in the person, Jesus.
We don’t claim all the answers but we hope to point you in the right direction as we see how God has shown something of himself in the world around us, in the message of the Bible, and in the person, Jesus.
Do join us for as many of the events as you’d like to.
